Review – Piper’s Pet Pursuit by Cortney Cino
Piper’s Pet Pursuit One Little Girl’s Quirky Path to Pet Ownership by Cortney Cino can be summed up as
Piper’s is desperate to have a pet and despite her pleading, her parents say no. And she asks every day and her parents still say no! To show that she has the skills to look after a pet, Piper starts taking care of random creatures in her bedroom.
As Piper starts looking after these various assortment of animals, you begin to wonder how long this enterprise will last before she gives up or her parents say a final no.
There’s lots of questions and good discussion for children reading this book on their own or with parents on pet ownership, determination, obstinance, resilience, independence, etc.
I am a sucker for big eyes in kids and animals. Cue the cat (Puss In Boots) from Shrek.
Piper’s guileless gaze makes you wonder how her parents can say no. The illustrations were bright and engaging, ably highlighting the text.
Piper is either very mischievous and Machiavellian or a tender hearted girl. It’s up to the reader to decide.
If you’re wondering and you should be, if Piper is successful in pet ownership, I will put you out of your misery
